(Patria) - France intends to develop new long-range missiles with Germany and the United Kingdom to "manage escalation" of a possible conflict without using nuclear weapons, said French President Emmanuel Macron in a statement on national nuclear deterrence forces.
"Regarding deep strike capabilities, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France will cooperate on projects to create very long-range missiles within the ELSA initiative. This will provide us with new capabilities to manage escalation by conventional means," Macron said, TASS reported last night.
He added that as partnerships strengthen, other projects aimed at supporting European sovereignty may also emerge.
