Macron: Priority is to stop the sale of weapons used in Gaza

(Patria) - France is not a major supplier of weapons to Israel - last year it supplied military equipment worth 30 million euros, according to the annual report of the Ministry of Defense on arms exports.

- I think the priority today is to return to a political solution (and) to stop the export of weapons that are used in the fighting in Gaza. France is not supplying anything.

Our priority now is to avoid escalation. The Lebanese people must not be sacrificed, Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza - French President Emmanuel Macron told France Inter radio.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot is currently on a four-day trip to the Middle East, ending in Israel on Monday, as Paris seeks to influence the revival of diplomatic efforts.
