(Patria) - French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed last night that he will remain in office until the end of his
term, i.e. until May 2027, Reuters reported.
He stated this in an address to the nation held the day after MPs ousted his government led by Michel Barnier.
"The mandate you gave me is five years, and I will use it until the very end," Macron said during the ten-minute speech.
Macron then added that he will appoint a new French prime minister in the "coming days".
After Prime Minister Barnier was dismissed, some also called for Macron to leave office.
