French President Emmanuel Macron spoke publicly for the first time about the conflict between Israel and Palestine, writes the Patria agency.
Macron emphasized that he supports a two-state solution that would finally resolve the decades-long conflicts in the Middle East.
- Any agreement must recognize the legitimate rights of Palestinians to have an independent state, but also ensure the security of Israel. There is no sustainable alternative to the two-state solution, but today this solution is in danger, both on the ground and in people's minds - Macron said, writes AFP.
Macron pointed out that France has always condemned the illegal construction of Israeli settlements on Palestinian land, stating that construction reached an unprecedented level last year.
Macron met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday, where he emphasized that he would do his utmost to help resolve the issues between Palestine and Israel.
