Lukashenko: Nuclear weapons in Belarus will not be used

(Patria) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the Kremlin's staunchest ally in the war in Ukraine,
stated that he is confident that Russian tactical nuclear weapons deployed in his country
will never be used, Reuters reported.

Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin have acknowledged that some tactical weapons have arrived in Belarus, and the rest will be deployed by the end of the year.

The Belarusian president, addressing the commemoration of his country's national day,
said that the deployment of weapons in Belarus was "my strongest initiative".

"As we progress, we are increasingly convinced that it (the weapon) must be stationed here, in Belarus, in a reliable place," Lukashenko said. "I am sure that we will never have to use it while it is here. And no enemy will set foot on our land," he added.
