(Patria) - Alexander Lukashenko was sworn in yesterday and assumed the duties of the President of Belarus for the seventh time.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the Ceremonial Hall, the largest space in the Palace of Independence in Minsk, the country's capital.
More than 1,100 guests were invited to attend the event.
Shortly before Lukashenko's arrival, the national flag of the Republic of Belarus and the presidential standard were brought into the hall.
Placing his right hand on the Constitution, Lukashenko took the oath, after which the national anthem was played.
The Chairperson of the Central Election Commission then presented him with the official certificate of election.
Lukashenko was elected president in elections held on January 26, where he received more than 5.1 million votes, accounting for almost 87 percent of the total number of voters.
The commission officially confirmed the election results at a meeting on February 3.
