Lukač: Perpetrator and instigator of Bašić's murder arrested, discussion on Europol tonight

(Patria) - Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska Dragan Lukač (SNSD) stated that the murder of the Head of the Criminal Police Sector of the Prijedor Police Administration, Radenko Bašić, has been solved. Bašić was murdered in March this year.

"Both the instigator and the perpetrator of the murder have been arrested, but there are still some other individuals who contributed in some way to the murder happening," Lukač told reporters in Istočno Sarajevo.

Commenting on today's arrest in Prijedor, Lukač stated that the operation was carried out with the aim of fighting organized crime, but that it is also related to Bašić's murder.

"We are continuing that fight. I announced that we still have a lot of work to do in Prijedor. Unfortunately, a police officer always appears who has gone to the other side and is with criminals, for some personal gain, started committing criminal offenses and is at the service of selling information from the police. All such individuals will be prosecuted," he emphasized.

Lukač said that the arrested individuals are significant criminals connected to the Sky phone application.

"What is within the jurisdiction of RS and on our territory out of those 2,000, who were mentioned, not all are from the territory of RS. We expect to open full cooperation with Europol," he said.

He announced that tonight he will have a meeting with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, and the Minister of Security, Selmo Cikotić (SDA), where Europol will be discussed.

"For six years, we have had an agreement on cooperation that was signed and ratified with Europol. For six years, we have not managed to fully implement it as it was signed. We have not managed to bring the international agreement, which has the force of law, to completion," Lukač pointed out.

He noted that Europol stated that they cannot accept even a liaison officer, who has been appointed, at their headquarters in The Hague until the agreement is fully implemented.
