Luka sentenced to 27 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend in Našice last year

(Patria) - The Osijek County Court today sentenced 25-year-old Luka Dundović to 27 years in prison in a non-final verdict, finding him guilty of killing his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend with a cold weapon in Našice last year, which was characterized as aggravated murder in the verdict.

Dundović was charged with killing his ex-girlfriend Jelena Lukačić with a cold weapon on May 21 last year in Našice.

After the crime, he attempted suicide by jumping from an overpass, sustaining numerous injuries for which he was kept under police supervision in hospital treatment.

The judicial panel assessed that the evidentiary procedure and witness statements unequivocally established that the accused committed the criminal offense of aggravated murder, and thus sentenced him to a non-final long-term prison sentence of 27 years.

The time spent in investigative detention since the end of May 2022 was credited to his sentence, and the judicial panel also issued a decision extending Dundović's investigative detention, which may last until the first-instance verdict becomes final.
