London allocates $205 million for sending American weapons to Ukraine

(Patria) - Defense Secretary John Healey stated on Wednesday that the United Kingdom has allocated $205 million for the so-called Ukraine Priority Requirements List (PURL) initiative to supply Ukraine with American weapons, Reuters reported.

PURL was established last summer to maintain the flow of American weapons to Ukraine at a time when new US military aid was stalled.

"I am pleased to confirm that the UK is allocating £150 million to PURL," Healey said in an emailed statement. "Together, we must provide Ukraine with the critical air defense it needs in response to Putin's brutal onslaught."

The scheme allows allies to fund the purchase of American air defense systems and other important equipment for Kyiv.

Allies have already allocated over $4.5 billion through the program, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said on Tuesday.
