Lilies in action again: If this doesn't make us wise and unite us, nothing will!

There is not a single person from the endangered areas of Zenica Municipality with whom communication has not been established, to whom food, water or medicine has not been delivered, confirmed for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) Šerif Patković, president of the Association of Recipients of the Highest War Decorations of the Army of RBiH, who joined the rescue operations from day one.

Patković acts as a coordinator between the Civil Protection in Zenica and the formed crisis headquarters in the field, which cover several endangered areas in the territory of Zenica.

The Bosna River has flooded many commercial and residential buildings in the Zenica area in the last four days. However, the landslides that have been activated have equally endangered several villages in the municipality. Several houses have collapsed, and thousands of families have been evacuated and left homeless.

Patković says that no one yet has data on the extent of material damage in the Zenica area, but he is sure it is far greater than the damage caused during the aggression against BiH.

The security situation, Patković told NAP, in this municipality is currently good, and experts are working on repairing some of the damage. Their priority is securing road routes.

- The priority is currently to break through the road route to the village of Orahovica, which will ensure the supply of the villages of Jastrebac, Vukotići and Šerići as well. The delivery of medicines and other medical supplies to the endangered areas is also proceeding without delays – Patković confirmed.

As a recipient of the "Golden Lily" award, he has been involved in the fight against the natural disaster that befell BiH a few days ago, from the very first day, as have many of his former comrades-in-arms.

- Over the past few days, I have seen people showing solidarity, helping each other. So, if there is anything good in this that has befallen us, it is that the goodness in people, which had faded, has at least briefly awakened. I hope that this disaster will unite us again and awaken spiritual values in us – Patković told Patria.
