SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić assessed today that the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Serbia
will have great political and economic significance, as the Turkish head of state is coming to Belgrade, among other things, leading a large business delegation.
Speaking on RTS, Ljajić said that the economy is certainly of greatest importance, as more than 100 businessmen are coming, and this is an opportunity for cooperation with Serbian businessmen.
The President of Turkey will travel to Serbia on Monday.
The Serbian minister pointed out the increase in trade exchange between Serbia and Turkey from 800 million dollars two years ago to more than 1.3 billion dollars today.
He adds that partnership with Turkey is also important due to its position on the international stage.
Lajić assessed the construction project of the highway between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as "very important", as construction companies from both countries will be engaged.
"In addition, a serious investment cycle is starting with Bosnia and Herzegovina, with which we have the largest trade exchange but the worst road infrastructure. In addition, stability and cooperation in the region are needed. Roads mean life and connectivity, which is why this is also a peace project," emphasized Ljajić.
A trilateral meeting between Serbia, Turkey, and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the presidential level will also be held in Belgrade, and the foundation stone for the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway will be laid on the territory of Serbia.
