Lithuanian who smuggled migrants into BiH pleaded guilty, Prosecutor's Office proposed one year in prison, BiH Court awaits decision

(Patria) - The accused Savulis Vladas, born in 1984 in Lithuania, a citizen of Lithuania, in the presence of his lawyer and an authorized court interpreter, has pleaded guilty to the criminal offense of human smuggling, under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

Given that the accused fully admitted to the criminal offense, namely that he smuggled illegal migrants, foreign nationals from Syria, Bangladesh, Iraq, and Iran, who did not meet the conditions for legal entry, stay, and exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina, into the truck and trailer he was driving, a prison sentence of one year has been proposed for the accused.

Furthermore, the confiscation of illegal property benefits in the amount of 500 euros, which was found and seized from the accused, has also been proposed.

The proposed sentence is in accordance with the accused's role and responsibility in committing the criminal offense, as well as with case law and the severity of sanctions imposed for the mentioned criminal offenses.

By signing the plea agreement, the accused waives the right to a trial, as well as the right to appeal the verdict that the BiH Court will pronounce based on the agreement.

If the BiH Court accepts the agreement, the case will be fully concluded without holding hearings, trials, or court proceedings.
