Due to increasing security threats, countries in the region will henceforth apply an integrated cooperation model that entails joint action in all three pillars of internal security - the fight against terrorism, serious and organized crime, and border security.
This was agreed upon at today's meeting of interior ministers of the Brdo Process initiative, held in Brdo pri Kranju, the BiH Ministry of Security announced, reports the Patria News Agency.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken an active and leading role in developing regional security that could respond to new challenges and contribute to European security. Among other things, the regional initiative for the fight against terrorism and illegal arms trafficking in the Western Balkans, launched by the BiH Ministry of Security, was exceptionally well received.
BiH Minister of Security Dragan Mektić expressed BiH's readiness to host the Regional Centre for Analytical Support to Counter-Terrorism Activities. Also, while further strengthening the role of the Strike Group for Combating Terrorism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mektić proposed that this cooperation model be applied at the regional level as well.
Due to such strategic planning and offering solutions, BiH has also received strong support from European Union countries, who have recognized BiH as a partner in the fight against global security challenges, the statement reads.
