(Patria) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has signaled that the country will continue to develop missiles in the next five years, when he visited major ammunition production facilities in the last quarter of 2025, the state agency KCNA reported early this morning, Reuters reports.
Kim said that the "country's missile and shell production sector is of utmost importance for
strengthening war deterrence," according to KCNA.
Kim ratified draft documents for the modernization of major ammunition production facilities to be submitted to a key party congress expected in early 2026, KCNA stated, which will set North Korea's development plan for the next five years.
KCNA's report followed revelations on Thursday that Kim oversaw the construction of an 8,700-ton nuclear submarine with his daughter, a potential successor, and a test firing of long-range surface-to-air missiles.
