Hypocritical EU: Bosnia and Herzegovina banned from exporting to Croatia, while they demand we open borders to Croats

Bosnia and Herzegovina must ensure privileges for the import of goods from Croatia by January 1, 2016. If it fails to comply, the European Commission (EC) threatens to impose sanctions on Bosnia and Herzegovina's exports to the European Union, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Sanctions against BiH would entail the denial or reduction of privileges that our country currently has in its already limited exports to the EU. These privileges primarily relate to the export of cucumbers, fruit, tomatoes...

The EU demands from BiH authorities that Croatia be allowed to import goods into BiH under a simplified procedure, with zero or lower customs duties, as was the case before Croatia became a member of the European Union in mid-2013.

Domestic experts strongly oppose the EC's demands, noting that if BiH agreed to these requests, it would be a severe blow to the already fragile economy of BiH.

The Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of BiH hope to convince the EC to abandon its demands towards BiH. Businesspeople from BiH call on citizens to help the BiH economy by purchasing domestic products, which has been facing unfair competition from imports for years, writes NAP.
