Lebanese media: Seventeen Israeli airstrikes on Beirut suburbs, six buildings destroyed

(Patria) - Lebanese state media reported seventeen Israeli attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut last night, with six buildings razed to the ground, and the abandoned offices of a pro-Iranian television station were hit on Wednesday, as the war between Israel and Hezbollah continues for a month, AFP reported.

Footage from AFPTV showed a huge explosion followed by smaller explosions in the southern suburbs, after the Israeli army issued an evacuation warning for an area where Hezbollah has control.

The official National News Agency (NNA) reported at least seventeen Israeli attacks, marking one of the most violent nights in the area since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hezbollah on September 23.

Six buildings were destroyed around the Laylaki suburb, the NNA said, calling these raids "the most violent in the area since the start of the war." The strikes came shortly after the spokesperson for the Israeli army in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, issued evacuation warnings on social media platform X.

However, there was no warning for the attack that hit the Jnah neighborhood in southern Beirut. One person was killed and five were injured in that attack, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Pro-Iranian broadcaster Al-Mayadeen said on Wednesday that an Israeli attack targeted an office it had vacated, adding that it holds the Israeli army "responsible".

The NNA said the Al-Mayadeen office is located in an apartment in a residential building in Jnah. The office was hit by two missiles and "completely destroyed" in the attack, which caused a fire inside, the NNA added.

The Al-Mayadeen office is located near the former premises of the Iranian embassy in Beirut and close to a Lebanese army checkpoint.

Israel launched an intensive air campaign in Lebanon on September 23, after nearly a year of cross-border exchanges with Hezbollah due to the war in Gaza. Since then, at least 1,580 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon, according to AFP data based on Ministry of Health figures, although the actual number is likely higher due to current data limitations.
