(Patria) - Lebanese Hezbollah said on Wednesday it would continue its resistance and stand by Palestinian fighters, a day after a ceasefire between the group and Israel was announced, Reuters reported.
In the first statement from Hezbollah's operations center since the agreement was announced, the group did not directly mention the ceasefire agreement.
"The Islamic Resistance Operations Room confirms that its fighters in all military disciplines will remain fully equipped to deal with the aspirations and attacks of the Israeli enemy," the group said.
It added that its fighters would continue to monitor the withdrawal of Israeli forces beyond the Lebanese borders "with their fingers on the trigger".
The ceasefire agreement includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon within sixty days, Israeli officials said.
The agreement, brokered by the United States and France, ended the deadliest confrontation between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group in recent years. Israel continues to fight the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
