A Russian Ministry of Defense TU-154 plane carrying 92 people disappeared from radar over the Black Sea and crashed, the Interfax news agency reported on Sunday, citing an unnamed source, Patria reports.
Rescue teams have found the crash site of the plane in the Black Sea near the coast of Sochi, Interfax reports.
Other Russian news agencies reported earlier that the Russian plane disappeared from radar shortly after taking off from Sochi, a well-known Black Sea tourist destination.
The Ministry announced that the plane took off from Adler, south of Sochi, and was on a routine flight to the Russian military base Hmeimim near Latakia in Syria.
Among the passengers were military personnel, nine journalists, and members of the official military music group Alexandrov Ensemble, who were scheduled to perform for Russian soldiers stationed in Syria on the occasion of the New Year's celebration.
