Lendo: Posters supporting Dario Kordić placed on the house of a murdered Bosniak

Graffiti supporting war criminal Dario Kordić and welcome posters on the streets of Novi Travnik were irritating and we requested police action, said Refik Lendo, Mayor of Novi Travnik Municipality for BH News Agency Patria.

- I have an extremely negative stance towards this. They wrote graffiti on playgrounds, especially since they placed that poster on the house of a murdered Bosniak. We requested police action, they made a report. Such posters are not welcome in Novi Travnik. They were placed at the entrance to the city, at the stadium, they have now been removed, but it is possible they will be placed again – Lendo told NAP.

In a statement issued by the Municipality of Novi Travnik, it is stated that on 17.05.2014, graffiti of an inappropriate nature were written on the city football stadium, which insulted a nation, and this is unacceptable.

- I am also offended by the fact that such behavior has not provoked any reaction from the representatives of the Novi Travnik Police Department as well as the Management of NK ,,Novi Travnik". It is unacceptable to tolerate vandalism, nationalist outbursts, and the spread of hatred – Lendo stated in his reaction.

Lendo said that the lack of condemnation of such phenomena, otherwise, can mean support. Otherwise, the posters were placed before Dario Kordić's release from prison after serving two-thirds of his sentence, NAP reports.

Kordić was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Hague Tribunal due to the responsibility he held during the massacre in Ahmići and the Bosniak-Croat conflict in central Bosnia.

The sentence was definitively confirmed by the ICTY Appeals Chamber in 2004. It was stated that Kordić, "as a high-ranking regional politician, planned and incited the crimes committed in Ahmići on April 16, 1993, and the associated hamlets of Šantići, Pirići, and Nadioci", whose goal was the "ethnic cleansing of that area", and confirmed his criminal responsibility for these acts on all grounds. 116 Bosniak civilians, including women and children, were killed in Ahmići.
