False report of relative for terrorism leads to suspended sentence

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The accused Jukanović Suad, born in 1979 in Tuzla, a BiH citizen, in the presence of his lawyer, fully admitted guilt for the criminal offense he is charged with by the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

The accused is charged with having, on 22.12.2016, filed a false report against his relative by sending a false report via social media against the said person due to alleged connections with planned terrorist activities. The message was sent to the user account of a diplomatic mission in BiH, based in Sarajevo, which caused distress among the employees. Investigations conducted by law enforcement agencies determined that the stated allegations were untrue and that the said person was falsely reported.

In accordance with the plea agreement, a suspended sentence of 8 (eight) months in prison has been proposed for the accused, which will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within a period of 2 (two) years.

By pleading guilty, the accused waived his right to a trial and the right to appeal the verdict that the BiH Court will pronounce based on the agreement.

After considering the agreement, it was accepted, and the aforementioned sentence was imposed on the accused.
