(Patria) - The joint statement of the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Forum in Cairo was unanimously approved by all participants, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, TASS reported last night.
- All areas of joint practical work are reflected in detail in the joint statement, which was unanimously adopted and will serve as a guideline for our further work - Lavrov said after the meeting.
According to him, the statement reveals the principled approaches of countries to key issues of international development.
- I would particularly like to draw special attention to the clear statement that all countries must respect all principles of the UN Charter - Lavrov stated.
He added that the statement also highlights the tasks of strengthening the economic independence of African countries, "defending their rights to independent economic development, independent choice of partners" and independent foreign policy.
- Our joint statement reflects clear support for the recent UN General Assembly resolution declaring December 14th as the International Day for the Eradication of Colonialism in all its forms and manifestations.
This day will be observed every year and will encourage us to consolidate efforts within the United Nations to eradicate today's forms of colonialism and neo-colonial practices - Lavrov emphasized.
The second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum was held in Cairo on December 19 and 20.
