(Patria) - Moscow and Washington are currently negotiating over the Nord Stream pipelines, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Channel One, as reported by TASS.
"Of course, there are differences. But is it only in the interest of Russia and the United States to restore normal energy supplies to Europe? The Nord Stream pipelines are being discussed," Lavrov said.
"It will be interesting if the Americans use their influence on Europe and force it not to reject Russian gas. This would seem surreal," the Russian minister said.
"Fuel costs are several times higher for Europe and its companies than for American companies. At the same time, people like (German Vice Chancellor) Robert Habeck, (President of the European Commission) Ursula von der Leyen, (German Defense Minister) Boris Pistorius say they will never allow the restoration of the Nord Stream pipelines. These people are either mentally ill or suicidal," Lavrov said.
