Lavrov calls for practical steps towards establishing a Palestinian state

(Patria) - Russia and the Gulf states are calling for practical steps towards establishing a Palestinian state in accordance with United Nations resolutions, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after a meeting of the Strategic Dialogue of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council.

"Special attention was paid to the international situation, primarily in the Middle East and the tragedy unfolding in the Palestinian territories: both in Gaza and the West Bank," Lavrov said.

"We share the view that it is necessary to immediately stop the violence, resolve humanitarian issues, and begin practical work on implementing the United Nations resolution on establishing a Palestinian state that will coexist with Israel in peace and security," he added, as reported by TASS.

Lavrov arrived in Riyadh on September 8 to participate in the meeting of the Strategic Dialogue of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council.
