(Patria) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a "constructive" talk on Monday to prepare for the upcoming summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Reuters reported.
The two leaders agreed during a phone call on Thursday to meet soon in Budapest, Hungary, which will be their second summit this year. Following that agreement, Lavrov and Rubio were tasked with discussing preparations for the meeting.
"A constructive discussion was held on possible concrete steps for the implementation of agreements reached during the October 16 phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump," the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a brief statement.
The ministry did not provide further details about the conversation between the two high-ranking diplomats or specific agenda items for the planned summit.
