Lavrov: Europe withdrew from negotiations after undermining previous agreements on Ukraine

(Patria) - Europe decided to withdraw from peace negotiations on Ukraine after undermining previous agreements, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Sunday, as reported by TASS.

"Europe failed to implement the initial agreement on resolving the crisis, reached in February 2014. It did nothing when the opposition occupied all government buildings the morning after the documents were signed. Europe also failed to implement the Minsk Agreement," Lavrov said.

"The same thing happened for the last time in April 2022, when the Istanbul agreements were terminated on the orders of (then British Prime Minister) Boris Johnson, and Europe offered no resistance - it even welcomed it," Lavrov added.

According to him, there was "almost no discussion" about the potential participation of European countries in the negotiations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously said that Russia only discusses the Ukrainian issue with the United States.
