Latin America one of the global epicenters of the coronavirus pandemic

(Patria) – The total fatal outcome of the coronavirus epidemic in Latin America surpassed 200,000 on Saturday, making this region one of the global epicenters of the pandemic.

Besides the US, Brazil and Mexico record more deaths from Covid-19 infection than any other country in the world, and together they account for 70% of the total regional fatal outcome.

Both Brazil and Mexico have been trying to curb the epidemic with restrictive measures for months, while at the same time trying to open economies that have been significantly weakened by the crisis.

Brazil recorded a daily record of 1,595 deaths last week, and an additional 1,088 on Saturday.

Mexico recorded 784 deaths on Saturday, in addition to 9,000 new confirmed cases of infection.

Other Latin American countries continue their fight against the coronavirus, with Peru at the very top of the list of the most endangered with at least 422,183 infections and more than 19,400 deaths.
