Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák also gave his comment to the Patria News Agency on today's terrorist attacks in Brussels.
- I was shocked when I received the news about the explosions in Brussels. We have already expressed our condolences to our Belgian partners, as well as our solidarity. A number of Slovaks live and work in Brussels – in our embassies in the EU, in NATO, and European institutions. Employees of our Ministry working in Brussels should be alright.
Since this morning, we have been in contact with Belgian security forces and are checking if there are any Slovak citizens among the victims or injured.
At this moment, we advise Slovak citizens to avoid traveling to Brussels, and if they are in Brussels, not to use public transport and to avoid places where large numbers of people gather. We call on Slovak citizens who are in Brussels to follow the instructions of the local authorities, Lajčak stated.
