Lagumdžija on Sky and Anom: Initial information for the work of police agencies and prosecutor's offices

(Patria) - With the aim of transparently informing the public and avoiding possible misinterpretations related to the current topic concerning the Sky and Anom applications, the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) Halil Lagumdžija issued a statement to the public today. 

"In an effort to fully adhere to professional standards, as the President of the HJPC BiH, I generally refrain from commenting on specific proceedings being processed before judicial authorities. In response to the enormous interest of the media, in one of the interviews, I also addressed questions related to the Sky and Anom applications, with the aim of sending a message to the public that the judicial community and the umbrella body of BiH judiciary are aware of the importance of this topic for the entire society.

In this regard, I once again emphasize that the information from the Sky and Anom applications, which were forwarded to police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in principle represent exceptional initial information very useful for the work of police agencies and prosecutor's offices in BiH in detecting actions and perpetrators of organized crime. Therefore, police agencies and prosecutor's offices should make maximum use of this data in order to uncover criminal acts and organizations, as well as persons who are members thereof. The evidence obtained will be assessed by BiH courts in specific cases, taking into account the highest standards arising from the practice of the European Court of Human Rights, the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other positive legal regulations.

Finally, as the President of the umbrella judicial institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I wish to express deep gratitude for the opportunity provided to the BiH judiciary and law enforcement agencies to fight against organized crime effectively and decisively based on the aforementioned data. It is my sincere, personal and professional desire that we emerge as winners from that fight", Lagumdžija emphasized.
