The damage caused by floods and landslides in BiH is so great that it is better not to release data on it at this time, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH and head of BiH diplomacy dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija at a press conference held after a meeting with representatives of the international community and representatives of the diplomatic corps in BiH today in Sarajevo, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
Dr. Lagumdžija said that the citizens in the areas affected by the severe natural disaster in more than 40 municipalities in BiH in recent days are now in a much worse situation than when they emerged from the war.
- After the war, people had nothing. Now they also have nothing, but they are burdened by loans they took from banks – said Lagumdžija. He added that at today's meeting with representatives of the international community and other diplomats, he received strong support from all of them, who will help BiH overcome the situation it is in. Some countries, like Japan, have already paid a certain amount of money today that will be used to repair the damage in BiH, and representatives of other countries have also announced assistance.
According to data presented at the conference by the General of the Armed Forces of BiH Senad Mašović, about a million people in BiH are currently without water, and about a hundred thousand houses are damaged and uninhabitable, writes Patria.
