Kuwaiti AD mistakenly shot down US planes

(Patria) - Three American fighter jets crashed "due to an apparent friendly fire incident," the US Central Command (Centcom) announced.


Kuwaiti air defense accidentally shot down F-15 Strike Eagle fighter jets late Monday evening Eastern Time.

- During active combat - which included attacks by Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones - US Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defense - the statement said.

- All six crew members ejected safely, were rescued safely, and are in stable condition. Kuwait has acknowledged this incident and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation - it was added.

The cause of the incident is under investigation, according to Centcom. The planes were flying in support of a military operation against Iran, codenamed Operation Epic Fury.
The Kuwaiti Minister of Defense said early Monday morning that "several" American fighter jets had crashed.
