Kurgaš: BiH produces better food than what is imported

Refik Kurgaš from the "AKOVA" group warned the BiH news agency Patria that most of the food imported into our country does not meet Western standards and that consumers in Bosnia and Herzegovina should turn to domestic products and domestic companies that largely operate according to the most demanding criteria.

Kurgaš said that several international institutes have assessed that BiH is very suitable for growing healthy and quality food because the domestic soil is not polluted, so consumers in BiH and governments must start exploiting these potentials more.

In order to improve the position of the domestic food industry in the BiH market, as well as in the demanding international market, several companies from BiH established the Halal Industry Association on Saturday, which will operate within the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of BiH.

- The Halal certificate means that the food is healthy, i.e., safe for consumption - says Kurgaš, adding that he hopes that domestic consumers will also appreciate products with this certificate more in the future, just as consumers in the Western market increasingly do.

The Halal Industry Association will be headed by product promotion expert Adis Hasaković.

Representatives of the following companies have been appointed as the main operational bodies of this association: Klas d.d. Sarajevo, Vispak d.d. Visoko, Akova Impex d.d. Sarajevo, Menprom d.o.o. Tuzla, Meggle d.o.o. Bihać, Ledo d.o.o. Čitluk, Bosnet Group d.o.o. Sarajevo, Bimal d.d. Brčko, Brojler d.o.o. Sarajevo, GHB Invest/ SAHAF, BBI banka d.d. Sarajevo and the Agency for Certification of Halal Quality BH, writes Patria.
