Kurds welcome delivery of American weapons, Turks outraged

High-ranking Syrian Kurdish official Ilham Ahmed welcomed the decision of the American authorities to approve the delivery of heavy weapons to the Kurds in Syria, reports Patria. 

The representative of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) emphasized that this decision gives legitimacy and strength to the Syrian Kurds in the fight against ISIL terrorists in the city of Raqqa.

On the other hand, Turkish officials condemned this decision of the American administration. 

- The Trump administration is supplying weapons to a terrorist organization, either directly or indirectly through the YPG, which does not change the fact that it represents support for a terrorist organization - said Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli for the Turkish television Haber.

Turkey considers Syrian Kurds to be allies of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, banned in Turkey, while the Americans consider them the most effective fighters against ISIL in Syria.
