Kukavica: The authorities are not focused on the NATO issue, they are maintaining themselves on that topic

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Writer and columnist Edin Urjan Kukavica assesses that it is sad that important dates of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been reduced to non-working days.

“I think we should introduce a little more creativity, a little more imagination, look a little better at the calendar of BiH history and see that almost every day of the year has its own significant historical reference and refer to it, either through the educational, cultural, or informative segment of our lives”, said Kukavica for N1 television, adding that what happened “in our past, we could use it in the present and reflect it in the future.” 

“By forgetting the past, we will truly get lost in the present", emphasized Kukavica.

Speaking about the political situation in BiH, Edin Urjan Kukavica said that both voters and politicians lack seriousness, assessing that changes in the country will not happen until “we change our own state and our attitude towards the country.” 

He stated that he does not expect the Agreement signed a few days ago by the presidents of ethno-national parties in BiH to be realized.

The authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kukavica assessed, are not focused on either BiH's NATO path or the celebration of January 9th, which has been a subject of debate in recent years, but rather these are topics on which the authorities maintain themselves.

“Nobody in this country, neither left nor right, nor anything in between, has a well-thought-out idea of what to do tomorrow, even if they were to win power.  That is why there are no protests, that is why there is no elite, that is why there is no change of government, that is why there is no change in the opposition, and the goal of everyone in these structures is to maintain the status quo”, believes Kukavica.
