
Five to six terrorists entered a public military school. They killed 131 people, including 100 children, and dozens were injured. During the hours-long siege, explosions echoed, witnesses heard 15, Pakistani online media Dawn reports live, news agency Patria reports.
After an all-day siege, the police confirmed that all six attackers were killed and today's bloodshed came to an end.
A group of heavily armed Taliban stormed a military school in the city of Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan and took hundreds of students and their teachers hostage, Pakistani police announced.
Eyewitnesses report that gunfire and two strong explosions were heard from the school, and thick smoke hung over the building.
The death of the students was confirmed by the spokesperson of Lady Reading Hospital, Jamil Shah.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was retaliation for the Pakistani army's attacks on their positions in the tribal areas of the northwest.
In a statement sent to Reuters, the Taliban stated that they targeted the school because the army is attacking their families.
'We want them to feel our pain,' the Taliban wrote.
