Criminal report from 2016 against Hubijar for abuse of position still under review

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office received in 2016 a report from the Union of the Public Company ZOI '84 against director Midhat Hubijar for the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority.

- The case is under review and no final prosecutorial decision has been made in it - states the response of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office to a question posed by representative in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Mirsad Pindžo.

Hubijar was appointed president of the Commission of the Tourist Association of Sarajevo Canton in early June 2018. Nevres Alispahić, a graduate forestry engineer, was appointed head of ZOI '84.

We remind you, the Sarajevo Canton Assembly did not adopt the Report on the work of ZOI '84 for 2016 at the end of January 2018, while the one for 2017 has never even been considered.

Then-Premier Elmedin Konaković called for Hubijar's removal, but the premier was removed very quickly. Konaković claimed that 2017 was the worst year regarding the operations of ZOI '84. He noted that the Sarajevo Canton Government allocated money for paying debts, salaries, as well as the procurement of a quad chairlift, a six-seat chairlift, and a snowmaking system on Bjelašnica.

Only for the six-seat chairlift project, 16 million KM was allocated, and in December 2017, it was officially put into operation. Although it was supposed to bring multiple benefits to Bjelašnica, as well as to the company ZOI '84 itself, both in winter and summer, this did not happen. On the official website of ZOI '84, it is stated that since June 5, the six-seat chairlift on Bjelašnica is not working. The Austrian company that previously serviced the six-seat chairlift on Bjelašnica allegedly abandoned this job. The acting director of ZOI '84 confirmed that the six-seat chairlift is not functioning due to a lightning strike.

The Union of ZOI '84 throughout Hubijar's entire mandate claimed that the company was failing, that funds were being spent non-transparently instead of investing in the facilities managed by this company. Primarily, this is the Juan Antonio Samaran Hall (Zetra), as well as facilities on Bjelašnica that could stabilize the company.
