Crime Solvers receive most information on drug trafficking and economic crime

Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) registered 592 calls on the "Crime Solvers" telephone line in February 2016, the Patria news agency reports.

In the said period, 23 pieces of useful information were received from citizens regarding committed or planned criminal offenses and perpetrators, on the basis of which an equal number of criminal-intelligence reports were made.

In addition, 64 reports were received via the electronic criminal offense reporting form, of which 15 were useful information about committed or planned criminal offenses and perpetrators, on the basis of which an equal number of criminal-intelligence reports were made.

The largest number of information related to unauthorized trafficking in narcotic drugs, economic crime and abuse of position or authority. Of the total number of information received via "Crime Solvers" and the electronic form, 38 were forwarded for further processing to the competent police authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and SIPA acted on 11 as well.

During the reporting period, 28 feedback responses were received from competent police and other authorities, related to previously submitted information received via "Crime Solvers" or the electronic criminal offense reporting form. Based on this, it was determined that acting on the said information resulted in the submission of five reports to the competent prosecutor's office on the existence of grounds for suspicion of a committed criminal offense and perpetrators.

In addition, SIPA police officers provided 158 pieces of advice to citizens who contacted them via the anonymous and toll-free telephone number "Crime Solvers" – 080 020 505.
