Smuggled drugs and weapons: Two BiH citizens arrested in Austria, three in BiH

In the past 24 hours, a complex prosecutorial-police operation codenamed "Postman" was carried out on the territory of Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Two BiH citizens were arrested in Austria, while three persons were arrested in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically in the Brčko District of BiH and Tuzla Canton, and searches were conducted at several locations in BiH, announced the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, as reported by the Patria news agency.

In this coordinated operation, a larger quantity of the narcotic drug cocaine, exceeding one kilogram, was seized, as well as a larger quantity of the narcotic drug marijuana-SKUNK. A larger amount of money and vehicles, which according to collected evidence originate from drug smuggling, were also seized. The seized quantity of narcotic drugs on the black market amounts to more than 100,000 euros.

Furthermore, during the operation, evidence was collected regarding the smuggling of weapons from the territory of BiH to EU countries. Through a joint operation and constant contacts between the prosecutor's offices and police from BiH and Austria, within the framework of Operation Postman, evidence was gathered about citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina involved in smuggling larger quantities of hard narcotic drugs in BiH and the EU, particularly between Austria and the Netherlands.

In the coordinated action, which was prepared for several months, upon a prearranged signal, activities were carried out to arrest BiH citizens in Austria, as well as searches and arrests in BiH.

The acting prosecutor and investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH are on the ground and in constant contact with colleagues from Austria, as well as police officers in BiH, who are carrying out these activities under the order and coordination of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, as an equal partner, participates in several international operations, in cooperation with European Union countries, aimed at combating organized crime, in the commission of which BiH citizens are involved, or whose commission takes place in BiH.

The activities being carried out are part of the efforts of law enforcement agencies to strengthen cooperation with EU countries and bring BiH closer to European integration. The Prosecutor's Office of BiH expresses support to all agencies that participated in the international operation Postman, including the Brčko District Police, the Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton, and the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, the statement said.
