Convoy for Syria departs: Emmaus sends 936 tons of aid to the Syrian people so far

The fourth MFS-EMMAUS convoy "BiH for Syria" with 17 trucks departed today for Syria from the company Vegafruit, Doboj Istok. The donation consists of 341 tons of flour, 30,015 liters of oil, 7 pallets of pasta, 2 pallets of jam, 6 pallets of clothing, and 9 pallets of baby diapers.

The aid was collected with the support of the Muftiates of Banja Luka and Zenica, organized by the Majlis and citizens from those areas. In addition to them, the action was also supported by the association "Podrinje"-Srebrenik, the Muharem Berbić Foundation, "DMDE" d.o.o. Doboj Istok, and many other individuals.

At the send-off of the convoy, in addition to MFS-EMMAUS employees and friends, the chief imam of the Majlis of IZ Ključ, Ermin ef. Vučkić – envoy of the Mufti of Banja Luka, and Fuad ef. Omerbašić, chief imam of the Majlis of IZ Tešanj – envoy of the Mufti of Zenica, were present.

"In just three days, during which this campaign lasted in the area of the Zenica muftiate, I can say that the citizens competed in acts of kindness to gladly send off this convoy of aid to the Syrian people today," stated Fuad ef. Omerbašić.

"We are pleased that we will provide these people with at least one meal a day, and in the future, we will strive to help them in other ways as well. We thank all the citizens who have once again shown solidarity and helped our humanitarian action, which we will continue in the future," stated MFS-EMMAUS.

The convoy is expected to arrive at the Turkish-Syrian border on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, and will be accompanied by two MFS-EMMAUS employees and four representatives of the muftiates where the aid was collected, so they can provide feedback. The results of the joint efforts of MFS-EMMAUS employees and all those who have helped this humanitarian action in any way are best seen from the numbers themselves:

Including today's convoy, MFS-EMMAUS has sent 936 tons (39 trucks) of aid to the Syrian people: 826 tons of flour, 52,015 liters of oil, 2 pallets of jam, 7 pallets of pasta, 17 pallets of baby diapers, 6 pallets of clothing.
