(Patria) - The entire Donbas is Russian territory, said Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, commenting on Volodymyr Zelenskyy's idea of holding a referendum there, TASS reported.
"Donbas is Russian (territory)," the Kremlin aide told a Life reporter.
"The entire Donbas is Russian," he emphasized, referring to a provision of the Russian Constitution.
On Thursday, Zelenskyy said that the issue of territory as part of a peace plan for Ukraine should be answered through a referendum.
Peace talks have intensified since November when Washington proposed a 28-point peace plan.
The document caused dissatisfaction in Kyiv and among its European partners, who sought significant revisions.
