SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda signed a loan agreement today with the Head of the EBRD Office in BiH Manuela Naessl for the Sarajevo Public Transport Project - Part 3, worth 10 million euros.
Minister Bevanda thanked Director Naessl and emphasized that he is pleased that they are providing assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in all important projects.
“This project will complete the procurement of new trams, which will contribute to the development of public transport infrastructure in Sarajevo and the efficiency of services. The final beneficiary of the loan is the Sarajevo Canton, and the project will be implemented by the cantonal Ministry of Transport,” Minister Bevanda pointed out.
It was emphasized that this project also addresses priority environmental protection challenges through the promotion of public transport use.
“The loan amount is 10 million euros, with a repayment period of fifteen years, including a three-year grace period on principal repayment,” stated Minister Bevanda.
This project is the third in a series of projects related to the improvement of public transport in Sarajevo.
Agreements with the EBRD have already been signed for two projects: the first for the procurement of new electric trolleybuses worth 15 million euros, and the second for the overhaul of the tram line, worth 20 million euros.
The loan agreement was signed correspondentally, without the usual ceremonies, due to the measures taken to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
