(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton today approved the Public Institution "Sarajevo Canton Health Center" to hire five doctors of medicine, 15 nurses, and five radiological diagnostics engineers on a permanent basis.
The hiring of the aforementioned staff is necessary to replace employees who retired in previous years and for whom adequate replacements were not engaged, as well as due to the need to maintain work processes in the context of the worsening epidemiological situation in Sarajevo Canton, as stated in the request sent to the KS Ministry of Health from the PI "Health Center".
Accordingly, the Government made a decision to hire the aforementioned staff.
When hiring them, the PI "Health Center" must comply with the legal and sub-legal regulations governing employment.
This institution has secured financial resources for the employment of these workers.
The Government of Sarajevo Canton also made a decision to fill vacant positions in the Administration Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS, for which it was unequivocally determined that it is necessary in order to improve the state of service provision to citizens.
The jobs for the positions that need to be filled are distributed across 13 sectors in all municipalities in KS, where documents such as identity cards and the unique citizen identification number, travel documents, driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, personal name changes, citizenships, and resident registration and deregistration are issued.
The position of the MUP of KS, which the Government accepted at the session, is that there should be no delay in providing these services whatsoever, and that citizens' complaints about queues in the process of obtaining services they pay for are justified, which certainly indicates the need for urgent filling of vacant positions.
Otherwise, out of a total of 408 positions for civil servants and employees in the MUP of KS, 331 are foreseen for employees by the systematization, and 237 have been filled, meaning 94 are vacant, and all possibilities for internal transfers have been exhausted. In the Administration Directorate of the MUP of KS, 71 employees have left their employment for various reasons since 2015. Of this number, 41 employees were assigned to counter positions.
“Due to the employment moratorium, adequate staffing was not carried out, which particularly affected the counters in direct contact with citizens. The situation is currently such that every third foreseen counter is unfilled, even though we are obliged to fill them according to the number of registered residents. In addition, the age structure of employees at the counters, which exceeds 52 years of age, and a larger number, namely 24 of them with determined disabilities, are employed at counter positions, which also indicates that the workforce is of advanced age and problems also arise with absence from work due to illness,” explained the Minister of Internal Affairs of KS, Admir Katica, further elaborating on the decision.
After the conducted competition procedures and security checks, the hired employees will be assigned to all sectors in the Sarajevo Canton, where the need for employees is greatest. Financial resources for their salaries and benefits will be planned in the 2022 Budget.
