Russian Revenge Begins: Putin to Expel 35 American Diplomats

Foreign agencies report that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has asked Vladimir Putin to expel 35 American diplomats in response to yesterday's expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats from the USA, reports Patria.

Last night it was announced that the US is expelling 35 Russian diplomats and closing two buildings used by Russians in New York and Maryland in response to the humiliation of American diplomats in Moscow, as well as the interference of Russian hackers in the US presidential elections. These 35 diplomats have been declared persona non grata, and they and their families have been given 72 hours to leave the USA.

In Moscow, the move by the administration of Barack Obama was described as "unfounded", stating that they had no connection to the American elections.

Lavrov responded that these American accusations are unfounded and said that the sanctions will not go unanswered.
