Qatar's Royal Family Plans to Gift Trump a Luxury Boeing 747-8

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump is set to receive one of the most valuable gifts ever presented to the American state - and he intends to keep it for himself.

According to ABC News, the royal family from Qatar plans to gift Trump a luxury Boeing 747-8, known as the "flying palace," which would become his new Air Force One.

The delivery of the aircraft is expected during Trump's upcoming visit to the Middle East.

According to available information, the luxury Boeing 747-8 that the Qatari royal family plans to gift Trump is known for its opulent interior, including gold-colored walls and gilded furniture.

The aircraft is equipped with a bedroom, lounges, conference rooms, marble-lined bathrooms, and a grand staircase.

Trump reportedly visited the aircraft in February while it was parked at West Palm Beach airport and personally approved it, ABC reports.

According to the same sources, the aircraft is expected to be officially handed over to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation before the end of Trump's term.

Although exchanges of gifts among heads of state are common, the US Constitution prohibits federal officials from accepting personal gifts from foreign heads of state without congressional approval.

Gifts exceeding a minimal threshold (USD 480, according to the March 2025 regulation) are considered property of the American people and can only be kept if the official purchases them at market price, according to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.

In recent months, Trump has publicly criticized Boeing multiple times for delays in the delivery of two new presidential aircraft, contracted as part of a $3.9 billion deal.

"I don't like how late it is. There is no excuse for it," Trump told reporters in February while aboard the current Air Force One.

According to a CNN report, acting chief of Air Force acquisition Darlene Costello stated before the House Armed Services Committee that, according to current negotiations with Boeing, the delivery of the two aircraft could be postponed to 2027.

"I cannot guarantee that timeline, but Boeing is currently proposing 2027, if we reach an agreement on changes to the requirements," Costello added.
