(Patria) - Following the arrest of former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, King Charles III has spoken out, stating that "the law must take its course."
"I received the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicion of abuse of public office with the deepest concern.
What now follows is a thorough, fair, and appropriate process in which this matter will be properly investigated by the competent authorities.
In this, as I have said before, they have our full and unreserved support and cooperation. I clearly state: the law must be upheld.
While this process is ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further on this matter.
In the meantime, my family and I will continue to carry out our duties and serve all of you."
According to BBC information, police are conducting a search at Royal Lodge in Windsor, where Andrew had recently been living.
The former prince maintained regular contact with Jeffrey Epstein even after Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a minor for prostitution. Epstein died in 2019 in a New York prison while awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
