Farmers from Krajina demand resignation of Minister Dedić, 200 tractors to head towards Izačić border crossing

About 200 farmers from Krajina will head towards the Izačić border crossing at 12:00, where they will hold peaceful protests. The farmers are demanding the resignation of the Federal Minister of Agriculture and the Federal Minister of Finance, Šemsudin Dedić and Jelka Milićević. They are demanding the payment of subsidies for 2014, 2015, and the first quarter of 2016.

Dževahir Babić from the Farmers' Association "Krajina" told NAP that it is raining in Krajina, so the number of farmers at the protests could be even greater than 200.

- Farmers today have nothing to do because of the rain, but they also have no money to work - says Babić.

Farmers are currently arriving with tractors in the town of Mihaljevac in Cazin.

The Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Interior did not approve the gathering of farmers. It was announced that farmers who protest could face fines ranging from 3,000 to 9,000 KM.

Babic claims that the officials from the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Interior abused their authority. The Ministry informed the public that farmers want to block roads and the border crossing, which is illegal.

- We did not announce the closure of the border crossing. We announced peaceful protests. It is not right for the Ministry to misinform the public - said Babić.

The farmers claim they will block the border crossing if the police fine them.

- If we pay the fines, then there is no obstacle to block the crossing as well - says Babić, NAP reports.
