Drama ends, boy found, there was no kidnapping

18:00 Police found a four-year-old boy whose alleged kidnapping in New Belgrade was reported by a citizen.

As stated in the MUP press release, after an intensive search that lasted three hours, police found a “black Countryman“ with Austrian license plates, which turned out to be owned by the boy's mother.

After entering the parents' apartment, police also found their sons aged seven and four, but it turned out not to be a kidnapping. 

Police are investigating all circumstances of this event, the press release adds.

17:35 - Members of the MUP of Serbia are acting on a report of an alleged child abduction in New Belgrade and are appealing to citizens to report if they have seen the black Countryman in the photo.

Police are taking all measures and actions within their jurisdiction and are investigating the allegations of this report, the MUP press release states.

A three-year-old girl was allegedly abducted in New Belgrade, and witnesses claim the child was placed into a car of the make "Mini Morris", Belgrade media report.

Police have called on all citizens to report if they notice the black "Mini Countryman" in the photo with Austrian license plates W09583F by calling 192 or the nearest police station. 

 

As reported by a B92 reporter, the eyewitness who reported the alleged abduction is currently giving a statement to the police. 

"Novosti" reports that the girl was allegedly abducted around 12:30 on Oton Župančič Street at number 20 in New Belgrade, and that citizens informed the police about everything. 

However, the MUP says that none of the girl's parents or relatives reported her missing and that MUP teams are in the field. 

"Blic" writes that it was an anonymous tip. 

"The police were informed via telephone about a child abduction. The person, who did not identify themselves, said that a child was abducted in New Belgrade and placed into a black "Mini Morris". That was all, the person who reported the abduction did not provide the child's name or age, but ended the call after the report - say the MUP of Serbia. 

After the report, a search was launched for all black "Mini Morris" cars, and border police were immediately alerted in case the kidnappers attempted to flee across the border, Patria reports.
