Thief of Bruce Lee Statue Sentenced to Ten Months in Prison

(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Mostar, following the indictment of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutor's Office and after a plea agreement, has passed a verdict finding D.P. (born 1978) from Mostar guilty based on reasonable suspicion of committing the prolonged criminal offense of "Theft" under the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The court sentenced him to ten months in prison, as confirmed by the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutor's Office to Bljesak.info.

To recall, according to the indictment of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prosecutor's Office in Mostar, D.P. was accused of stealing money and various items in three separate incidents between February 29 and April 7, 2024, with the aim of unlawfully acquiring property, thereby committing the prolonged criminal offense of "Theft" at various locations in Mostar.

He committed these acts to the detriment of the following establishments: the store "Optika Boni," from which he stole 600 KM in cash and 20 pairs of sunglasses and 2 pairs of prescription glasses of various types and models; the hardware store "Martom," from which he stole 600 KM in cash and a certain quantity of various items and tools.

He also committed theft to the detriment of the City Park "Zrinjevac," where he used a suitable tool and physical force to detach the statue of "Bruce Lee" from its concrete pedestal, to which it was attached with metal anchors.

He then transported it using a cart to the "Staklena banka" (Glass Bank) building, and subsequently by vehicle to the village of Kosor, where he cut it into pieces, thereby unlawfully acquiring property.

Furthermore, in accordance with the law, the convicted person was deprived of the unlawfully acquired property amounting to 1,200 KM, as well as the items found in his possession.

The Municipal Court assessed that this sanction, a prison sentence of 10 months, would achieve the preventive and punitive purpose of punishment.
