Vote theft at SDA Congress linked to him: Who is Amir Zukić to talk about morality in the electoral process!?

Tragicomedy is no longer something we can find only in dramatic literature or drama. Tragicomedy has, unfortunately, become our way of life.

If the situation weren't so serious, with the economic crisis and the struggle for survival, in a word tragic, we would laugh out loud at the information that Amir Zukić, a delegate in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, recently participated in a Symposium on the topic “Where has morality gone?” held in Zagreb, reports the Patria news agency.

Morality in the electoral procedure of Bosnia and Herzegovina and how moral the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina is after Dayton was the topic elaborated by the SDA Secretary General, Amir Zukić.

Speaking of morality related to the electoral process and the morality of the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina after Dayton, it is worth mentioning that Zukić received 3,821 votes on the list for the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He obtained his mandate through a compensatory list determined by the party leadership, in which he himself holds the position of Secretary General. For the uninitiated, compensatory lists are the discretionary right of the party president or leadership, on which they place people they trust, regardless of their political or other references, which certainly includes morality.

– We must do everything to ensure that elections in our country are truly free, both formally and substantively, and that they reflect the real interests of people for a better life. And what must not be omitted is that we must strengthen the propaganda of civilizational values of the Bosnian paradigm and the values of traditional Bosnian society, its culture and way of life – stated Zukić in his presentation, before about twenty philosophers, sociologists, political scientists, theologians and other scholars from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Iran, Slovenia and Serbia.

So, as former Federation Prime Minister Nedžad Branković once said, “everything that is legal is moral.” The Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina allows for compensatory lists, which mostly include those who know they have no chance of passing the elections through regular means, i.e., the people do not want them, but they have certain “merits” for which party leaders reward them with a compensatory mandate.

Thus, Zukić entered the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina legally, therefore morally. But what if the law is immoral? That is now debatable, and let those who change it deal with it.

Let us return to Zukić, who gave lectures on morality in the electoral procedure. The SDA Congress held in May 2015 was tumultuous. Accusations of vote theft for the elections of vice-presidents and members of the Main Board were flying everywhere. There are even video recordings of this.

Zukić was, it was rumored at the time, one of the organizers of the vote theft. Now, as they tell us in the SDA, this is no longer whispered in the corridors, but he is directly accused. And can Zukić then give lectures to anyone and talk about morality in the electoral procedure!? It sounds surreal, but unfortunately, it is true.

The organizers of the Symposium in Zagreb were the Bosniak National Community of Croatia, the Ibn Sina Institute from Sarajevo, the Islamic Community Council from Zagreb, and the Center of Excellence for Integrative Bioethics. They certainly did not know that Zukić is not a suitable person to speak on the topic of morality, especially not on morality in the electoral process.

The media have so far reported that Amir Zukić owns a large number of properties of enormous value, and whether all of it was acquired through the salaries he earned as secretary of the Centar Municipal Council, or as a delegate, let those responsible check.

Zukić has never denied owning a large number of properties, and for the most part, this data can also be found in his asset declaration.

A villa worth 2,000,000 KM is just one from the extensive collection of Amir's properties.

The remaining assets of the Zukić family include a house in Sarajevo (1/2 with his wife) worth 600,000 KM. Land in Rogatica of 50,000 m2 of unknown value, a weekend house worth 20,000 KM, a house in Dubrovnik worth 1 million KM, land in Trebinje of 50,000 m2 of unknown value, a house in Sedrenik of unknown value, land in Visoko of 392 m2 of unknown value.
