Goran Zorić from the Youth Centre "Kvart" in Prijedor will complain to relevant domestic and international institutions, after the local newspaper "Kozarski vjesnik" refused to publish a paid advertisement - a remembrance of innocent children killed in Prijedor during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- We have already sent a complaint to Transparency International, and in the morning we will contact the Press Council as well as the Human Rights Ombudsman – Zorić told the news agency Patria.
During the ethnic cleansing of Prijedor in 1992, the Army of Republika Srpska killed 102 children. Among them, the majority were Bosniak children, along with several children of Croatian nationality. The youngest murdered boy, Velid Seftić, was only two months old.
Zorić went to the editorial office of Kozarski vjesnik for several days. He wanted to publish a remembrance of the murdered children. He intended to pay for the advertisement properly. However, the newspaper's editor did not allow him to do so.
Zorić explains to NAP that the editorial board of Kozarski vjesnik grossly violated the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The association "Kvart", of which he is a member, will seek that the editors face consequences for violating the law. Kozarski vjesnik is partially funded from the city budget, writes NAP.
