The murder of two girls in Sarajevo is not an accident, it is the state in which the citizens of Sarajevo live, says dr. Goran Kovačević, assistant professor at the Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies in Sarajevo, for the Patria News Agency.
He believes it is devastating that even after the catastrophic security situation in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, no one has yet been held accountable for it.
Sanjin Sefić killed two female students in Sarajevo on Monday evening, after hitting them with a car at high speed, and then fled the scene of the accident. Although the police identified the man who ran over the girls just a few hours after the accident, Sefić managed to leave the country the next day and go to Serbia.
When asked how it was possible for Sanjin Sefić to leave the country, even though the police knew his identity, Kovačević believes that there are specific institutions and individuals responsible for this, and that it is ultimately very easy to determine who is responsible for this oversight.
- Ultimately, the authorities are also responsible for the state in which the citizens of Sarajevo live. Because they have done nothing to improve the security situation in the city through their representatives and ministers in the KS Assembly and Government - Kovačević believes.
